This week my Son marched to the sound of the Tears.  Once there he helped people through the most hellish experience of their entire lives.  He handled himself with a maturity, sensitivity and strength far beyond his years.  I am very proud of him and I am proud he is my Son.

I spoke with Ed twice today.  At 1 pm he had a headache and was to busy to talk -- the conversation lasted maybe 10 seconds.  At 5:30 I caught up with him and we spent maybe 20 minutes.  He has been extremely busy seeing people.  He was at Tech until 3 this morning, got a few hours sleep and was back by 9 am.  It doesn't stop for him.  He has been dealing with the families of the victims (including families who don't know their children were killed).  He talked quite a bit, venting.  He is grateful for all the thoughts, prayers and support people are giving him.  He will try to work on campus tomorrow if he can get out of a commitment on Radford's campus.

I indicated he needed to be taking care of himself and he assured me he was.  The Red Cross makes him take breaks.  He sounded good this evening.  I will try to talk to him around 10 pm just to check on how he is doing.  He kept telling me not to worry!  I told him that worrying was part of my job description.

Bayside Pres, where I am the Parish Associate, is having a prayer service tomorrow night.  I plan to take part.

This entry is disconnected, but I've been worrying about Ed all day and am not connecting all my thoughts very well right now.

I think the best thing we can all do for him right now is keep up the prayers.  Post on Xanga because he will see it eventually.  Call me if you need to -- will be in contact with him 2-3 times a day until this is over.

I spoke with Ed a couple of hours ago.  He helped set up the Red Cross center.  As of 10:00 pm not much was happening.  The campus at Tech is still in shock.  He and some other counselors expect tomorrow to be a busier day.  With the blessing of his professors he will be working at Tech for the next day or so.

When I spoke with Ed several hours ago he was headed for the Virginia Tech campus.  He is on a crisis team that will help with the psychological/spiritual health of survivors.  Please remember him in your prayers.
